OtterCard/Otterbucks
New OtterCards are coming!
Students will pick up and begin using their new OtterCards when they return in the fall.
New cards for staff and faculty
The Campus Service Center will issue cards to faculty and staff over the summer. Call 831-582-5100 to schedule an appointment to get your new OtterCard. Drop-ins also welcome at Campus Service Center. Be prepared to have a new ID photo taken.
When to start using new card
The university is installing a new building access system. The new system will come online building by building starting on May 21. This schedule shows when each building will switch over to the new system -- that is when staff and faculty will need to start using their new cards. All buildings will have switched over when students return in the fall.
OtterCard Services
The OtterCard serves primarily as a student identification card to receive the following services:
- library card,
- campus shuttle
- Otter Sports Center pass
- discount card at participant local retailers
If you:
Live in the Residential Halls, your OtterCard is used as an "Electronic Key."
You need your OtterCard to get into the Residential Halls
Purchase a Meal Plan, your OtterCard is used to keep track of your Meal Points.
You need your OtterCard at all dining facilities
OtterBucks:
You can add "OtterBucks" to your card online or at the Campus Service Center to be used as a debit card at all dining facilities, the campus bookstore, and selected vending and copy machines.
Replacements:
The OtterCard program is funded by the students. A $10.00 replacement fee is charged for all lost, stolen or damaged cards.
Card care tips:
Do not:- leave in direct sunlight for example on the dash of a car
- expose to extreme heat or open flames
- expose to organic solvents, thinners, mineral spirits
- machine wash
- use as an ice scraper or scraping tool
- crimp, punch holes, bend, or twist card
- re-laminate
- immerse in alcohol, Isopropyl, ethanol, methyl etc.
- bite
- pound with a pen or tool
